NFL Betting Preview: Colts at Jaguars

Description:

Thursday Night Football NFL Network logoThe Indianapolis Colts have won an NFL-record 22 straight regular season games dating back to last year and they have clinched the AFC’s top spot and home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

So what do they have to play for on Thursday whey they travel to Jacksonville to face the Jaguars (8:20 p.m. ET, NFL Network)? The Colts are still unbeaten, but is a perfect record enough motivation for Indianapolis?

Indianapolis is a 3-point favorite and the total for the game is set at 42.5 at SBG Global.

The Colts do plan to play their starters in this game but it is situation that not many people can predict. Indianapolis may not have much motivation while the Jaguars need to win their last three games to make the playoffs.

Indianapolis head coach Jim Caldwell is saying the right things but who knows what will happen.

“We’re not going to assign numbers, in terms of plays, for anybody. We didn’t do that for the first 13 games, and we’re not going to do it for No. 14, either.”

Jacksonville knows they control their own fate in the final three games beginning with Thursday night against the Colts.

“We know that we have to win out,” Jaguars guard Uche Nwaneri said. “That’s really the only way to ensure that we’ll be in the playoffs. You don’t want to leave it to needing to win this and hope these people lose or these people lose. We control our own fate. We still have that fortunately.”

The Colts beat Jacksonville 14-12 in the season opener as Manning threw for 301 yards and a TD. The Jacksonville defense has been weak against the pass, allowing 239.5 yards per game.

For Jacksonville to win this game they will need a big game out of running back Maurice Jones-Drew. When he rushes for at least 76 yards they are 6-2 this season. The Colts are allowing 119.7 yards on the ground in the last three games.

Here are some key NFL betting stats for Thursday’s game:
