The New Jersey Nets matched the NBA record for most consecutive losses to start the season when they were pounded 106-87 by the Lakes Sunday night in Los Angeles.

The underdog Nets also failed to cover the 15-point spread. They are now 5-11-1 against the spread (ATS).

The Nets have now lost their first 17 games of the season, matching the record set by the Miami Heat in 1988 and the Los Angeles Clippers in 1999. The Nets face the Dallas Mavericks at home on Wednesday night.
