NBA Betting Preview: Heat at Pistons
The Miami Heat may have to do without PF Michael Beasley when they face the Detroit Pistons on Friday (8:05 p.m. ET, NBA TV).
The Heat lost 111-103 on Wednesday to Toronto and Beasley injured his knee in the loss. Miami head coach Erik Spoelstra said Beasley is questionable at best and may be doubtful for the contest.
“Mike wants to play. We didn’t send him home for a reason, that there’s a possibility he could play at some point on this trip,” Spoelstra said.
Beasley has started every game this season for the Heat and is their second leading scorer with 16 points per game. He has never missed a game due to injury in his two NBA seasons, although he did miss one game last year due to the flu.
The Heat are listed as 1-point favorites at SBG Global and the total is set at 188.
Miami comes into this game having lost two straight; if the Heat lose at Detroit on Friday they would fall to the .500 mark. The Heat simply have not been consistent this season. Nevertheless, the Heat are 11-10 against the spread (ATS) on the road, so they can be competitive.
With Beasley likely out on Friday, the Heat will need a big game out of Dwyane Wade, who leads the team in scoring at 27.3 points per game.
Here are some key NBA betting stats for Friday’s game:
The good news for the Heat is that they are 4-0 ATS in their last four Friday games. The Heat are also a very profitable 6-2 ATS in their last eight games against the Central Division. Miami has owned Detroit, going 15-5-1 ATS in the last 21 meetings.
The Pistons, meanwhile, have played well against the Southeast Division; they are 7-1 ATS in their last eight games against the Southeast. However, the Pistons have not played well overall; they are 5-16 ATS in their last 21 games. Detroit is just 3-8 ATS in its last 11 home games.
Five of the last six Miami games vs. the Central Division have gone under. Overall, five of the Heat’s last seven on the road have gone over.
Five of the Pistons’ last six games have gone under and four of their last five at home have gone under.
In this series, the last four games have all gone over the total.
