A huge crowd of more than 90,000 is expected on Sunday at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas as the East plays the West in the annual NBA All-Star game (8:30 p.m. ET, TNT).
There has been more attention on the weather and the crowd this year than the players but that will change on Sunday. LeBron James leads the East while local favorite Dirk Nowitzki has moved into the starting lineup for the West replacing the injured Kobe Bryant.

It should be quite a show at Cowboys Stadium with so many people on hand to watch the game. Even the players are excited about the game being held at Cowboys Stadium.
“It’s going to be fun,” said LeBron James. “The home of the Cowboys makes it a lot more special to me because of how much I love and watch those guys every year. It’s going to be fun.”
The NBA is thrilled to be setting an attendance record that may never be broken.
“We’re viewing it as a place where we’re going to set and retire the record for the most people ever to have attended not just an NBA game, but a basketball game,” NBA commissioner David Stern said.
The East would like to have a better performance than last year when they were routed by the West. They should get one considering the West is missing three of their best players as Kobe Bryant, Chris Paul and Brandon Roy are out due to injuries.
The East will be coached by Orlando’s Stan Van Gundy, so look for Dwight Howard to have a big game. Miami’s Dwyane Wade is also likely to be a major factor along with LeBron.
The West will be coached by Denver’s George Karl which should mean Carmelo Anthony has a big game. There is also no question that Nowitzki will perform well in front of the home crowd.
The West still has a lot of talent with players like Oklahoma City’s Kevin Durant and Phoenix’ Amar’e Stoudemire. Deron Williams is a Dallas native and will be looking to impress his hometown fans.
The starters for the West are Nowitzki who replaces Kobe, San Antonio’s Tim Duncan, Anthony, Stoudemire, and Phoenix’ Steve Nash.
The East starters are LeBron, Boston’s Kevin Garnett, Howard, and Wade; it has yet to be determined who will start in place of Allen Iverson. The Sixers star has decided not to play because one of his kids is sick.
Last year the West won 146-119 in Phoenix. The East, however, has won three of the last five All-Star games.
